Busy April

April is probably my busiest month.
December is busy too, but I think April still wins.  In April we are trying to get those big projects done for school, get ready for the summer activities, camps etc. and also get ready for the next school year. I would bet many moms can relate!!
This month alone I...
  • Registered Connor for HS classes...a royal pain, that still has bugs.
  • Attended an open house and registered Parker for his new HS.
  • Helped Parker run for Jr. Class President at a HS that he'll attend next year!  Yeah, he doesn't even go there yet, but thought he'd give it a try.  He lost, but was appointed to the cabinet, so he'll be on Student Council at Maeser next year...awesome kid!
  • Carpooled the kids to Hope of America
  • Hosted a Mia Maid breakfast, and a bridal shower for a former laurel
  • Attended about 20 soccer games
  • Arranged for mandolin lessons for Parker, guitar lessons for Connor, tennis and piano for Taylor and am researching new soccer teams for Connor and Ashlyn.
  • and...
  • I helped Alyssa move home for the summer!  Yay!!

Parker's campaign poster...I thought it was clever!
Hope of America was awesome!  Ashlyn was wonderful and had so much fun participating.
Taylor and Karl put together this awesome "Long board" Pinewood Derby car.

Packing and cleaning!  Thank you Grandma for helping Alyssa!!

Easter

Easter kind of snuck up on me this year.  We barely got our decorations up the week before!  Thank goodness for Taylor!  He did an awesome job!

The Easter Bunny never disappoints!

I had some extra candy and some eggs, so we invited my parents over for dinner on Sunday, and put together a simple little hunt.

Who put an egg way up there??

Even cool 14yr. old boys like candy!

FYI...that is MY SWEATER she is wearing!!

We ended our Sunday with a wonderful family home evening on the Atonement and the Resurrection of the Savior.  I love the significance of Easter and the hope it brings me in my life.

Spring Break

St. George Utah!
Awesome in the spring...not so much in the summer, way too hot!  My good friend from H.S. and  I have an open house policy...she is always welcome to stay at my home when she comes up north, and we are welcome at her home in St. George any time.  They are fantastic people and a huge part of our St. George fun!
Here is where the rest of the fun was:
We hiked this huge, rocky hill.  It may not look like much, but we were tired by the time we reached the top.

Somehow we missed the trail head (which turned out to be a small cairn) and so we just scaled up the face of the mountain, forging our own trail.  At times it was so steep, when I looked back I was terrified!  I tried to push through it until I realized I really was scared (heights kill me) and tears were starting to pool in my eyes.  Karl looked back at me and said, "how are you doing?"  up until this point, my answer had been,
 "I'm fine."
But this time I was NOT HAPPY!
I answered, "I am NOT OK!"  I can't believe you brought me on this hike, you know how afraid of heights I am!
I am NOT HAVING FUN!"
I saw this husband panic cross over his face..He knew I was no longer rational, and he could be in deep trouble if he didn't act quickly.  He speedily came down to where I was, took my hand and stayed by me the rest of the way.
I had to apologize.

On the top of the ridge was this huge cement arrow, used to guide planes towards SLC before there was electricity.

Connor got a nose bleed...kind of funny. ;)

They just like to freak me out.

After the hike, we got a slushie at Sonic and found this awesome park!

The boys played on the longboard...

then we all soaked our feet in the water.

We always love to play in Pioneer Park up on Dixie mountain.

The only downside of our trip, was that Parker has a different Spring Break, and was in school...and Alyssa was at college.
