One of the most comforting truths taught in the Church of Jesus Christ, is that this life is not the end. We have the opportunity to be with our loved ones for eternity if we
follow the teachings of Jesus Christ.
On August 31st, Karl's mom, Eleanor Adams Jensen passed away. She suffered a fall a week prior, which rendered her unconscious. She just never woke up. Eleanor has been suffering with Alzheimers for the past few years and has needed constant care the past six months. A month ago we enlisted hospice, which proved to be such a godsend.
Eleanor was an incredible woman, and I loved her very much! She wasn't perfect as she would readily admit, but she was a good soul, with a huge heart for everyone that crossed her path.
She will be very missed!
I LOVE this picture! Can you imagine raising 7 rambunctious boys...in California?
I love the look on her face...."let's just get this over with"!
I can relate!
We gathered some memorabilia for a display. The funeral was very simple per her request. She didn't want an open casket, and wanted the talks to be short and sweet, with "We Thank Thee O God For a Prophet" performed as her favorite song.
Her birth town was in Moapa Valley, Nevada and had purchased a plot there near her family. Karl and I transported the casket in our truck over state lines.
This is a rare moment when all seven brothers are together.
Eleanor specifically requested that we have a party after her funeral. She didn't want sadness, just joy. We met at the Logandale Stake Center and enjoyed a delicious luncheon and had an opportunity to share our memories and thoughts of Eleanor.
Karl's brothers...Such good men!
I think I was the last one to take a picture of Eleanor while she was alert. Karl's brother was in town and so we hosted a backyard dinner. I got this shot as the boys were walking their mom to the car.
